Give ‘em the ol Rassle Dazzle
Yea, I know – cheesy title. You know – New York: Broadway: the musical Chicago…….no? I guess that’s what you get for reading a blog from a chick sports fan. Who would have thought that Darrel Rasner would be such a shocking surprise. Looks as though he has earned a spot in the rotation for the time being. Not to mention the middle relief from Farnsworth and the duely noted, overly enthusiastic Joba Chamberlain. Really people, aren’t there more important stories to obsess over then the fact that he was enthusiastic about striking out Delucci after giving up a three run homer to him the night before? He’s a young kid, he was excited – give him a break. Back to the pitching – can you believe Mo? 10 saves and an ERA of 0.00. If anyone thought that he was going to lose his touch with age, they were sorely mistaken.
As for our offense – we definitely need A-Rod and Jorge back. Looks as if Alex will be back the end of next week, but Posada is gonna be awhile. Then Betemit hurts his hamstring on an RBI double today. Damn these Tigers…..every time we play them someone gets hurt. It’s an odd position to be in when your bullpen is your strength. If only we could have the hitting power and the pitching at the same time. Atleast Jeter hit his first homer of the season today……it’s about time. He seemed to be lurking in the shadows so far this season. As usual, he’s always clutch, but he needs to step it up a notch in the absence of power. As does Johnny Damon……
Tomorrow we look to Pettitte to wrap this thing up. Til then…
Next up to the mound……..Darrell Rasner
As if it could get any worse then the sweep by the Tigers. Now it turns out that the youngest starter in the majors, our Phil Hughes, is out until July with a rib fracture – not an oblique strain. I may be the most optimistic person on the face of the earth, but if his bad pitching as of late is because of a fracture that explains alot. And who knows, maybe this Darrell Rasner will be the savior we are looking for. In Triple-A he is 4-0 with an era of 0.87. Not bad. Now lets wait til Sunday and see what happens.
